Seprit - Remove Crema once and for all
THE SCIENCE
When espresso is brewed, tons of CO₂ naturally mixes with fats and oils, creating carbonic acid. The resultant CO₂ and carbonic acid emulsion is what we call crema. While the crema is formed, raw coffee fines become trapped and suspended in the foam.
Carbonic acid is extremely acidic, and raw fines are extremely bitter.
THE SOLUTION
The Seprit is a fast and efficient crema removal device. Based on tried and true lab gear used all over the world, the Seprit is the best way to know you're getting as much of the crema out as physically possible, while maintaining consistency across every shot.
It allows you to properly experiment and get better tasting, less bitter coffee.
THE BUILD
Lab Grade Borosilicate Glass
The standard for labware. Borosilicate is extremely thermal-shock resistant, super strong, and extraordinarily chemically inert.
Teflon Stopper
Non-stick, non-corrosive, and extremely non-reactive. Teflon is known for it's inert properties, which is why it's used in chemistry labs everywhere. Teflon doesn't break down until 450°F (232°C). Because coffee never even exceeds 212°F (100°C), it's the perfect material to ensure absolutely zero contamination.
Stainless Steel Base
The stainless steel base is ultra heavy, ensuring a super sturdy and stable design that won't be broken when bumped into on your counter.
Dishwasher Safe Plastic Clip
It's dishwasher safe. Period.
